Nearly twenty years ago (around the time that picture was taken), I sat in my car, stuck in a snowbank with a pile of undelivered newspapers beside me while my small children slept at home. I cried out in my frustration for help, for some kind of relief. In response to my tears, the words of Psalm 30 quietly came to mind: “weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” It wasn’t a thought that fixed my problems all at once, but it was enough to encourage me to get myself out of the snow, to finish my route, and to get back home to my family.
The recordings and sheet music that you will find here are, in many ways, a product of that experience and of my effort to share music that breathes a spirit of solace and peace. These arrangements of hymns, lullabies, and other popular songs are all rooted in the music that has inspired and sustained me through weeping as well as rejoicing through the years. As you browse this collection, I hope that you will also find music to ease your sorrows and complement your joys, music that inspires you to carry on toward a brighter morning.
